Durville Island

Fishing
From snapper near French Pass to grouper off Stephens Island this place has it all. The bottom of the island is a very popular location to live bait or jig for kingfish during the summer months, as is the current basin near French Pass, which contains good number of snapper as well as kingfish.
Spearfishing
A popular spearfishing location, the summer months are normally spent targeting kingfish around the lower half of the island, whilst the winter months are spent around the Stephens passage area targeting monster cod, moki and butterfish.
Scuba Diving
Some of the largest crayfish I’ve ever seen have been caught here, mainly around the northern part of Durville Island. Along with numerous scenic dives with everything from sharks to nudibranchs possible.
