Horoirangi (reserve)

Where?
Located just out of Nelson between The Glenn and Cable Bay.

What?
A great reserve for a shore dive, Horoirangi marine reserve was started in 2006.

When?
During the months of January and February the visibility is normally at it's best.It can be affected by westerly swells from which there's no shelter.

What species?

During the summer kingfish, kahawai, snapper are commonly seen, the rest of the year tarakihi, blue moki, magpie morwong as well as many others are found within the reserve.

Highlights?
Either the kingfish during the summer or the resident magpie morwong.

Places to go?
Diving off the beach by The Glenn is a quick and easy option or diving the rocks at Mackay bluff.
