Kaikoura

The main problem with Kaikoura and part of the reason it’s such an unspoilt place, is the bad weather that can make conditions impossible to go diving or boating in. If you manage to get Kaikoura on a great day it’s guaranteed to be amazing.

Fishing
Whether fishing for blue cod off a boat or sharks off a beach this place is exciting because you never know what you might pull up anything from rays, bream, trumpeter and hapuka, are possible.

 

Spearfishing
With large paua and heaps of crayfish sometimes only metres from the shore, this is a great place to shore dive and even better to boat dive around. Species you can expect include paua, crayfish, blue moki, butterfish, terakihi and blue cod.

 

Scuba Diving
A very interesting area to scuba dive with some giant kelp beds and areas teeming with all kinds of fish life. Also well known for the abundance of crayfish.
