Wreck diving is diving exploring ships that have sunk at sea.

What gear is needed?
This depends on what your goals are. Swimming casually around a wreck can require normal scuba gear where as diving a deep wreck or penetrating a wreck can require torches, lines and staged bottles.

How much experience is needed?Koronui
This again depends on what your goal is. For a casual look around shallow wrecks a medium level of experience is good to ensure a safe experience. Where as for deep wrecks or penetrations you may require specialist wreck training and lots of experience.

How do you learn to wreck dive?

Many dive agencies teach wreck diving and other courses that relate to the conditions found in and around wrecks. Finding experienced wreck divers to show you the ropes is a good help.

Best places to wreck dive in NZ?
The Mikhail Lermitov is often considered the best well-known wreck to dive in NZ. However New Zealand has a large amount of wrecks in varying conditions that are worth exploring.
